Sheldon Lathe Repair Parts
Here are two listings for a couple of repair or replacement. They look like original Sheldon factory parts. They are too small for the R series lathe, I would have bought them, would work on one of the other smaller lathe, L and M series.

My new Sheldon UXL 46B
Hi all. I've already learned a lot from this site, practical machinist, as well as the usual suspect youtube machinists. And finally I was able to get myself a lathe!
I joined the Sheldon yahoo group, and john told me this was a 1959 version of the Underdrive 10". A friend helped me get it home and into my unheated garage, where I'll be cleaning it up before (hopefully) moving it to my basement. It runs fine, and is nice and quiet. The U drive works fine and shifts into all of the...

3D printed cross feed nut!
OK… here it is… my new cross feed nut arrived today! It looks an exact match for the original, other than the hole in the original is off center (as you can see in one of the pictures). If I had purchased an Atlas or South Bend I probably would have simply purchased one on ebay or something. And... Sheldon parts are not that easy to come by.
I told Dennis at FDM prints (FDMprints@gmail.com) that I had almost a half turn of backlash. I sent along the screw so he could make...

Sheldon Sebastian A5 (13") Backsplash
Guys,
I've had a Sheldon Sebastian A5 for about a year of functional use now, and I'm starting to think seriously about some additions to it. Specifically, I really want to put a backsplash on it to keep chips contained and give me a place to hang quick change tooling. I've attached a picture of my lathe and some of my restrictions below.
I haven't seen many backsplash builds for older lathes out there, and the few I have seen seemed to just skip all the sheet metal work, or use other...

Lathe Identification Question
I have an older, (possibly surplus) Sheldon Lathe and it doesn't have a model tag anywhere I can find. It does have a serial number of KTQ 9464 stamped on the bed. Wondering what model it is and any other information the members can provide. I believe it is a 10 inch lathe and the bed length is around 46 inches from the head to the end of the bed.
Looking for a manual and what accessories might have been available.

New guy, old lathe...
Hello! Bopping around looking for information on this old Sheldon lathe I picked up... already subscribed to the Sheldonlathe yahoo group, and went through the files there and found a little info, but not as much as I had hoped! It is a 10x for sure (haven't measured it yet)... looks like someone made some aftermarket adjustments, but nothing terrible.
Anyway, most of the important parts seem to be there... the motor (and pulley) are certainly new... all the gears appear to be in great...

Sheldon 11 inch carriage gib
My 11 inch K model Sheldon does not appear to have a carriage Gib and in the similar parts lists it does not show this lathe using one. When cutting and in particular parting there seems to be some upward movement in the carriage which I can see if I lift on the handwheel. Any suggestions on how to minimize this movement?

Opinion on Sheldon 11"(Older) Versus 10"(Newer Style)
I am looking at a 1940s 11" Sheldon with what appears to be a 1 3/8 spindle in plain bearings and single tumbler QC gear box. Seems like a good price for what comes with it. Two chucks, 5c collets, taper attachment, milling attachment, faceplates, tool post grinder and (sphering tool???) BUT I really wanted a 10" with the roller bearings and double tumbler Gearbox.
How does the older model stack up against the newer model?
Any specific problems I should look for on the older model...

Info on Sheldon Vernon horizontal mills
I'm planning to look over a Sheldon Vernon horizontal mill this weekend. The small footprint appears pretty well matched to my basement work area. No special need or job intended for this machine, but it sure looks useful.
If there's anyone with experience with this machine, can you please advise on any particular areas that I should be watching out/checking over before purchasing. I'm presently aware of the small table and the odd collet size. Machine appears to have a decent vise...

Questions about Sheldon Sebastian 16" model B-6 lathe
I'm looking at a Sheldon Sebastian 16" model B-6 lathe and would like to find more information on it if possible.
Here's the lathe: It's a 16" swing by 39" bed (not sure if that 30" is between centers?

My first questions have to do with the chuck.
Here's the lathe: It's a 16" swing by 39" bed (not sure if that 30" is between centers?

My first questions have to do with the chuck.
- How does this chuck attach to the lathe? Is it easy to remove?
- On the front, are there pieces of the jaws missing?
- Can you make custom soft jaws that will screw onto the...

Well just bought a Sheldon TRB-S56
I probably paid a little more than its worth considering the had it listed for 1300 and i offered him 900 and he took it, but I hope it is good. Bought site unseen just pictures. I'll share those, most probably saw them on Ebay already though. Looking for a manual but this site says I am not allowed to look at that section for some reason.

Looking For Feedback On This Potential Purchase: Powr Kraft Model 84 Tlc-2130
I've been shopping for a while, but the Portland Oregon machine market is not the most friendly. Anyway, I've been in contact with someone recently, and he seems to be a straight shooter. He's recently moved and doesn't have the space for the lathe, but would like to see it go to someone who'll get use out of it. The down side is that it is partially disassembled, but I much prefer this kind of deal to the "I'll give it to the first person with cash" mentality, since I actually live about...

GR72P questions
Hi,
I have a Sheldon GR72P that I am trying to get the motor running using a VFD, and I need to access the front of the motor by opening the front door of the pedestal base. To gain access, I need to remove the spindle speed selector shifter. I was wondering if any of you have ever removed the spindle speed selector lever that passes through the access door. The drownings (parts list) I am looking at show a taper in and or a set screw ????? I cannot see a set screw and the hole is the same...
